Robin Goeler

Robin Goeler, Assistant Principal of Francis Walsh Intermediate School in Branford, CT has met with great success in implementing programs that strongly encourage student involvement and academic success. Through his steadfast vision and insight, Mr. Goeler has developed and implemented several programs that have greatly benefited students in grades five through eight.

Working directly with students in 15 teams, Mr. Goeler has created such projects as Peer Mediation, Helping Hands, and Kids Care. In its sixth year since implementation, the Peer Mediation program continues to enlist seventh and eighth grade students to provide assistance to new students transitioning to Walsh. Students involved in the Peer Mediation program participate in an intensive one-week training program during the summer and a two-day training session at the beginning of the school year. Helping Hands and Kids Care give students who are not selected for the Peer Mediation program a chance to work with other students. Under the Helping Hands programs, seventh and eighth grade students tutor fourth graders at a neighboring elementary school. Kids Care encourages seventh and eighth graders to work with fifth graders where focus is on academics, peer issues, and developing social skills. Francis Walsh Intermediate school is fortunate to have a dedicated administer who serves as a role model for students and is the epitome of an educator who truly puts "ethics into action" by placing "kids first!"
