Meghan McMahon

Meghan McMahon was an eighth grade student at Shelton Intermediate School (SIS). An "A" student, Meghan is an energetic and optimistic girl who devotes time to her school, athletics, and the community.

Meghan dedicates hours to helping other children. As a leader in a community service club at SIS, she organized two outstanding events. Meghan arranged a Christmas project with a neighboring nursery school, where three and four-year-old students paired off with eighth grade students to make Christmas wreaths. At Easter, she coordinated an Easter Egg Hunt, where the eighth graders helped kindergarten students from Lafayette School to hunt for eggs. Both projects were extremely successful in providing responsible adolescent role models for young children.

Meghan is also a dancer who shares her talents to help younger children. As a member of the Jill Chase dance group, she danced last year for "Kids’ Spirit", a project aimed at keeping children off the streets in Bridgeport. She also donates her time to other charities such as the American Cancer Society and a nursing home in Bridgeport.

In addition, to her great citizenship contribution, Meghan is an athlete as well. She was a member of the SIS basketball team, plays AAU basketball, and is on a traveling soccer team. An outstanding person of character, Meghan represents the best in today’s youth.
