 Announcement of Statewide Winners
2001-2002
Ten Connecticut students received the top honors in the 2001-2002 Connecticut's Laws of Life Essay Contest. The winners were recognized during May 1, 2002 awards ceremony held in conjunction with
Connecticut's Asset-Based Character Education Conference in Meriden. Each student received U.S. savings bonds and a certificate.
More than 4,800 students throughout Connecticut participated in the Laws of Life program during the 2001-2002 school year. The top two essays from each school participating in the contest were evaluated by a panel of judges. Winners in the grade 6-8 division were Rachel, Griswold Middle School; Erin, Jockey Hollow Middle School, Monroe; Elizabeth, Martin Kellogg Middle School, Newington; Elizabeth, Fairfield Woods Middle School, Fairfield; Courtney, St. Aedan School, New Haven; and Kaitlyn, RHAM Middle School, Region 8. In the grade 9-12 division, the top essays were written by Chava, New Haven Hebrew Day School, Orange; Crystal, Common Ground High School, New Haven; Shannon, Nathan Hale-Ray High School, East Haddam; and Katherine, Bolton High School, Bolton.
