​Student-Teacher Workshop

Character-Based Decision Making​

• ​A 50 minute interactive workshop is presented for up to 75 students per session in grades 4-8. 
• Teacher participation is required in each session. 
• The workshop will introduce the skill of character-based decision making. 
• Prior to the sessions, the workshop leader will work for 75 minutes with five to six students selected by the school to prepare skits to be presented at the workshop.  Skit topics can be selected by the school from a list of topics such as bullying, inclusion, cheating or service. 
• The Golden Compass supplements social-emotional learning progams with a clear character-based decision making model.

Each workshop will introduce the process of character-based decision making as described in SEE's Golden Compass.  Students will recognize the importance of this skill and the ethical motivation it can inspire.  With the assistance of fellow students selected by the school, skits will be presented to apply the Golden Compass four-step model.  Contracts for the workshop include:

1. Preparation time for student skit volunteers
2. Copies of The Golden Compass workbook and classroom poster for teachers
3. Participant teacher access to two on-line professional development sessions to support full implementation of The Golden Compass.

Workshop Fees

$795  Base fee for one session, three workbooks,  three posters and on-line professional development workshops for three teachers.  

$75 each for additional sessions up to three in one day.

Travel charges added to base fee for schools more than 2 hours away from Milford, CT.
