SEE uses (with permission) an adapted version of the Comprehensive Model for Character Education designed by Thomas Lickona, emeritus director of The Center for the 4th and 5th Rs, SUNY, NY. This model also informs the 11 Principles for Effective Character Education that is the basis for planning, implementation and evaluation used by the national dissemination agency Character.org for their National Schools of Character program. SEE's adaptation of this model recognizes the addition of Service Learning as a classroom teaching strategy.
